Chaitra Navratri 2025: Worshiping Goddess Durga during Navratri is considered to be especially beneficial. Ashtami has special significance in in Navratri. On this day, Kanya Pujan has special significance. On this day, nine earthen pots are kept and nine forms of Goddess Durga are meditated upon and invoked.

Chaitra Navratri Ashtami 2025: The importance of Ashtami Tithi is considered very high in Chaitra Navratri. Those who are unable to keep fast for nine days in Navratri, they can get the virtue of nine days by fasting only on Ashtami day. On this day many people break Chaitra Navratri. It is believed that by worshiping and praying to Goddess Durga on this day, one gets the fruits of nine days of Navratri. 

The two most special days of Navratri are Ashtami and Navami. On the Ashtami of Navratri, the eighth form of Maa Durga, Mata Mahagauri, is worshipped. On the day of Ashtami, along with worship and fasting, many people also perform Kanya Pujan. This time the Ashtami of Chaitra Navratri will be celebrated on 5 April i.e. tomorrow.

According to the Hindu calendar, the Ashtami Tithi of Chaitra Navratri will begin on April 4, i.e. today at 8:12 pm and the Tithi will end on April 5, i.e. tomorrow at 7:26 pm. Navami Tithi will begin only after this.  

The most auspicious time for Kanya Pujan on Maha Ashtami tomorrow will be from 11:59 am to 12:29 pm.

Chaitra Navratri Maha Ashtami Pujan Vidhi (Chaitra Navratri Ashtami Pujan Vidhi) 

On this day, Maa Mahagauri, the eighth form of Maa Durga, is worshipped. On this day, wake up in Brahma Muhurta and take a bath, wear clean clothes. Clean the temple in your house and then sprinkle some Gangajal. Then, clean the picture or idol of Maa Durga with Gangajal.

After that, offer red flowers, fruits, akshat, vermilion, incense, lamp, naivedya etc. to Maa Durga. Then, offer food to the mother. After this, offer coconut to the mother, by doing this, the mother becomes happy and fulfills all your wishes herself.

How is Kanya Poojan done?

On the eighth day of Chaitra Navratri, performing havan and Kanya Pujan is considered very important. Performing Kanya Pujan and havan during Navratri bestows special blessings of the Goddess and the Goddess becomes pleased and fulfills the desired wishes. Also, it is necessary to perform Kanya Pujan on this day because it is said that these little girls are the form of Goddess Durga. Worshipping and respecting them is considered equal to worshipping Goddess Durga. 

Rules for worshipping the girl child on Maha Ashtami (Mahashtami Kanya Pujan rules)

In Navratri, one girl is worshipped on each date and nine girls are worshipped on Ashtami or Navami. By worshipping a two-year old girl (Kumari), the mother removes misery and poverty. A three-year old girl is considered as Trimurti. Worshiping a Trimurti girl brings wealth and prosperity in the family.

A four-year old girl is considered as Kalyani. Her worship brings prosperity to the family. While a five-year old girl is called Rohini. A person becomes disease-free by worshipping Rohini. A six-year old girl is called as Kalika.

Kalika form gives knowledge, victory and Raja Yoga. Seven year old girl is Chandika’s form. Worshipping Chandika form gives prosperity. Eight year old girl is called Shambhavi. Worshipping her gives victory in debate. Nine year old girl is called Durga.

Worshipping her destroys enemies and impossible tasks are accomplished. Ten year old girl is called Subhadra. Subhadra fulfills all the wishes of her devotees.
